Imagine the day when no child in these communities walks barefoot. Imagine schools filled with children confidently running to class, free from pain, free from shame. This is more than a dream—it’s a mission. And you can be part of it.

We saw them—barefoot, their tiny feet calloused and bruised. They weren’t just missing shoes; they were missing a chance. School becomes a burden, a distant dream slipping further away with every painful step on the scorching dirt roads.

It all started in a small primary school in Luwero, Uganda. We were on a mission, leading worship, when our hearts were gripped by the reality before us—hundreds of little children, their feet bare against the burning earth. Some limped from wounds and blisters, while others, unable to endure the pain of long treks, simply stayed home, missing out on the education that could change their future.

We soon learned that for many children in impoverished areas, shoes are more than just footwear—they are access. They are a miracle—basic yet profound, an answer to silent prayers and unspoken hopes. Without them, school becomes a burden, opportunities slip through their fingers, and their dreams feel just out of reach.

Then came a moment we will never forget. As worship filled the air, Presence House founder, Ron Selah, felt a stirring from the Holy Spirit—an urgent reminder that it was one of the children’s birthdays. He paused and asked if anyone was celebrating that day. From the crowd, a little barefoot girl ran forward. It was her special day, yet there was nothing to mark it. We later bought her a new pair of shoes, a simple yet profound reminder that God sees and cares for even the smallest details of our lives.

Shortly after, Ron called for the school’s head prefect. A young girl named Lynette Nakayemba stepped forward. Unlike many others, she wasn’t barefoot—but the shoes on her feet were so old and tattered they barely fit. In that moment, we knew these were the two little feet we were meant to bless that day. We placed brand-new shoes on them, prayed over them, and spoke life into their futures.

What started as a simple act of love became a divine burden. The need was overwhelming, yet so was the call. That day, Destiny Steps was born—not just as a shoe distribution initiative, but as a prophetic movement, declaring that every child has a God-ordained path to walk. We are not just giving shoes; we are preparing feet to walk into purpose, education, and destiny.

The Heart Behind Destiny Steps

Many children in impoverished regions grow up without shoes, exposing them to injuries, disease, and social stigma. But beyond the physical need, we recognise that feet are symbolic of movement, direction, and calling. The Word of God says:

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" — Romans 10:15

Every pair of shoes given through Destiny Steps is not just a gift; it is a declaration over a child’s future—that they will walk in God’s purpose, that they will step into greatness, and that they will run the race set before them with strength.

How Destiny Steps Works

  • Identifying the Need
We partner with local churches, schools, and community leaders in impoverished areas to identify children in dire need of proper footwear. These are often children who walk long distances to school, those at risk of foot-borne diseases, and those who have never owned a single pair of shoes.
  • Gathering & Preparing the Shoes
With the help of generous donors, we collect new shoes, ensuring they are sturdy, comfortable, and suitable for the children’s needs. Before distribution, we treat this as a sacred moment—praying over each pair and speaking life over every child who will wear them.
  • Prophetic Activation & Blessing
On distribution day, we don’t just hand out shoes; we declare destiny! Volunteers, pastors, and mentors gather to anoint the children’s feet, speak words of blessing over them, and remind them that they are chosen by God. We share scriptures, prophesy over their futures, and remind them of God’s promise.
  • Ongoing Mentorship & Discipleship
Destiny Steps does not end with a pair of shoes. We integrate this initiative into local discipleship programs, ensuring that these children are continually encouraged, taught the Word, and nurtured in their faith.

Why Shoes? Why Now?

A simple pair of shoes can mean the difference between a child attending school or staying home. It can mean protection from disease, confidence in social settings, and dignity in their daily walk. But most importantly, in the Kingdom of God, something as simple as shoes can be a prophetic tool to usher a child into their God-ordained path.

  • $35 provides a pair of durable shoes that can be worn for over a year and a half, giving a child the freedom to attend school, play, and step forward with dignity.

A Lasting Impact

With every step these children take, they are reminded of God’s provision, their inherent worth, and the incredible future ahead of them. Destiny Steps is more than an outreach—it’s a movement of faith, love, and transformation.
